Despite Conflict, Nomad Abu Dhabi Expands With Chalhoub Group Collaboration

The itinerant event will return to Terminal 1 of Zayed International Airport Nov. 18 to 22.

Organizers of invite-only, itinerant collectible art and design event Nomad will see its Abu Dhabi showcase take off once again.

Nomad Abu Dhabi, the invite-only collectible art and design event, is set to return for its second edition from Nov. 18 to 22. Held under the mosaic ceiling of Terminal 1 at the Old Abu Dhabi Airport, the showcase will highlight a new collaboration with Chalhoub Group, the Middle East’s largest luxury retail group, and promises to be more ambitious than ever.

Building on last year’s success, which attracted about 8,000 visitors, the four-day fair will welcome a new collaboration with Chalhoub Group, Nomad said in a statement on Wednesday.

The Middle East’s biggest luxury retail group will present the Elite Lounge, under the aegis of The Art of Living concept. The showcase will bring together participating brands, fashion’s Max Mara, high-jewelry firms De Beers, Repossi, in addition to contemporary regional brand Laggar and glass maker Lalique.

In an effort to satiate the growing appetite for collectible design in the region, international galleries and regional talent will converge within the historic terminal designed by French architect Paul Andreu and opened in 1982 at the behest of UAE founder Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.

Nomad cofounder and director Nicolas Bellavance-Lecompte said the upcoming showcase has evolved significantly versus last year’s edition, which was centerpieced by a Bottega Veneta exhibition celebrating the 50th anniversary of the house’s intrecciato leather weave.
