Find all the details on Bryant's game-worn and dual-signed Air Jordan 8 player exclusive auction.
Aside from his own namesake Nike signature sneaker line, one of the most noteworthy periods of Kobe Bryant’s footwear legacy was a brief stint during the 2002-03 NBA season in which the late basketball legend wore Los Angeles Lakers-colored player exclusive versions of various Air Jordan sneakers. It was an attempt on Nike’s part to court the sneaker free agent, one which ultimately proved successful.
Unfortunately, none of Bryant’s Air Jordan player exclusives have ever been released to the public, but a new auction from The Realest is giving fans a chance to own one such pair. And not only is the Air Jordan sneaker a player exclusive that was issued to Bryant, but it’s a game-worn and double-signed pair complete with photo-matching confirmation.
The sneaker in question is an Air Jordan 8 worn by Bryant during the Lakers’ March 21, 2003, home win over the Boston Celtics. It features a white leather base that’s accented with hits of Lakers purple and gold throughout, including on the sneaker’s signature support strap closure and brushstroke-patterned TPU heel panel.
Bryant’s size 14 pair is not only game-worn, but autographed on both the left and right shoe, which is somewhat of a rarity in the autographed memorabilia space. Both shoes are personalized Bryant’s signature and the number 8.
In addition to the Air Jordan sneakers, The Realest is also auctioning a game-worn and signed Bryant jersey from the 2003-04 NBA season, with bids already surpassing $780,000 as of publishing.
