FEATHERING HIS NEST: After a successful summer pop-up, Jonathan Anderson’s namesake brand JW Anderson has opened its first permanent location in Paris at Galeries Lafayette, expanding the British label’s reach as it continues to evolve beyond fashion into homewares, design and collectible objects.
The corner, which opened on Wednesday, follows three months at a space on Rue du Louvre that launched in early July. At the time, the brand said the temporary space would allow it to establish a presence in Paris while it looked for the right permanent location and got to know the Paris customer a bit better.
The 625-square-foot space on the second floor of the department store’s Boulevard Haussmann flagship brings together ready-to-wear, shoes, accessories and home and garden, placing clothing alongside furniture and curated selection of artisanal objects.
The interiors were developed by U.K.-based architects Carlos Sanchez and Tom Benton, who are also behind JW Anderson’s London and Milan flagships. Here they followed the JW Anderson brand’s use of raw materials and wood, tactile surfaces offset by pops of bright color. It’s also filled with nods to wildlife and nature, featuring pigeon, canary and hedgehog figurines alongside hand-knitted vegetable and bird-based bag charms.
Last year, Anderson, who is also the creative director of Dior and designs a collection for Uniqlo, told WWD in an interview that the JW Anderson brand would be a channel for his interest in art, design and objects as the brand moves increasingly in a lifestyle-oriented direction.
