Sega and Creative Assembly have issued a new statement on the status of a physical release for the upcoming horror sequel Alien: Isolation 2. The game was officially announced back in June, but Alien: Isolation 2 still lacks a firm release date. However, this latest development update is a hopeful sign that Alien: Isolation 2 isn't too far off now that the developer has confirmed new details on the game's release plans.
Conversation surrounding digital versus physical game releases has only gotten more heated in the time since Sony announced PlayStation would end physical disc production in 2028. Some gamers have even gone so far as to boycott PlayStation game releases in protest over this decision. However, other companies have weighed in on the debate and remain committed to physical game releases, and now Alien: Isolation 2 joins this group.
Alien: Isolation 2 is facing a survival horror problem that can make even the scariest games lose their edge.
In a developer update shared on the Alien: Isolation 2 Twitter account, the game's art director Ana Sopikova gave a definitive yes to the question of whether Alien: Isolation 2 will receive a physical release. The first Alien: Isolation game was released both physically and digitally back in 2014, but the industry as a whole has started shifting toward a digital-only future in the decade-plus since then. Thankfully, fans can rest assured that Alien: Isolation 2 will be able to join their physical game collection when it eventually releases.
