This week, the #1 spot in the Global Top 50 belongs to Cadel and Mia. The couple channel picked up 1.16 billion weekly views during a week when no other YouTube channel crossed the billion-view threshold. The Aussie duo was able to increase its traffic by 32% week-over-week.
Overall, it was another dominant week for Indian channels, which accounts for more than 40% of the Global Top 50. A run of holiday celebrations has boosted South Asian creators, and that trend continued at the end of October. And no, I’m not talking about Halloween. In India, the festivities are quite different.
In 2014, India added a new holiday to its calendar. October 31, the birthday of independence activist Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, is now known as Unity Day in the world’s most populous nation.
To promote the relatively new holiday, India’s federal government is turning to YouTube. The #21 channel in this week’s Global Top 50 belongs to the Central Bureau of Communication , a New Delhi-based agency that we’ve seen in our rankings before. Earlier this year, we highlighted the CBC as a tool Indian leaders were using to deliver PSAs related to digital safety and security.
