The new platform is focused on product discovery and purchasing but is currently only available to a handful of countries in Asia.
TikTok is trying to lure shoppers with a dedicated TikTok Shop app now available for download in select markets in Asia.
As shown in these example screens, the TikTok Shop app is focused primarily on product listings and driving shopping behavior, although some TikTok video content is also accessible.
Alongside personalized product suggestions inspired by user interests, the app also offers select livestreams and short videos to add context to certain product listings.
As explained by TikTok: “Discover trending finds, exclusive deals and shopping support you can count on — all in one place.”
It’s TikTok’s latest effort to enhance shopping behavior, and get more people viewing its platform as a place for product discovery.
That’s been central to the company’s expanded success in China, where the local version of the app, called Douyin, now generates a significant amount of income from in-app sales.
According to KrAsia, Douyin generated nearly $500 billion in gross merchandise volume in 2025, with livestream commerce in particular, driving a significant portion of that activity.
TikTok has been trying to push shopping in its app as well in order to replicate the expanded revenue potential that Douyin has seen from integrating shopping into the video viewing experience.
This play has driven some success, though not on the same scale as in China.
