The $10 million Abna Dakwa Village in Ghana may be MrBeast’s largest humanitarian project yet. Then someone asked a simple question. Why build way over there when so many people need help at home?

Beast Philanthropy, MrBeast’s nonprofit, sponsored the Ghana project. Its mission to “Make Kindness Viral” runs through everything the organization does, and this village is no exception.

Abna Dakwa Village includes a school for more than 300 students along with homes for teachers. There’s a medical clinic, clean water, solar power, agricultural facilities and a marketplace. The goal is to keep children out of illegal labor on cacao farms and in classrooms instead.

The scale of the project prompted one X user to ask why MrBeast wasn’t doing more in his hometown of Greenville, North Carolina, where the poverty rate sits well above the national average.

His response was that he already does. He pointed to his nonprofit’s work distributing millions of meals in the US, including in his own community, and noted that listing everything the organization does locally wouldn’t fit in a single post.

He’s got the receipts to back it up. Beast Philanthropy’s Beast Pantry distributes around 80,000 meals a month to families across Eastern North Carolina. What began as a single warehouse in his hometown now serves more than 20 communities in the region. The organization has also partnered with groups in New York and Pennsylvania.

Counting pantry and food rescue partners, the program has distributed more than 48 million meals since it launched in 2020.
