New Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced Update Is Arriving at a Bad Time

Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced got its final major update on October 27, 2026, which adds New Game+ alongside Nightmare Mode difficulty, featuring permadeath. The patch is meant to provide even more replayability in the already substantial remake of Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag, a sizable open-world game that many consider the best of its series.

Despite the feature not appearing in the original 2013 release of Black Flag, Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced now has a traditional rendition of New Game+, allowing players to carry over their progression when starting a new save file. New Game+ can come in a lot of different forms, and has been around for quite a while, though the past few years have certainly seen an increase in the trend. Historically, the NG+ has been most prominently featured in genres like survival horror and RPG: these genres tend to place a heavy emphasis on progression through either abilities, gear, items, or a combination of related ideas. When done right, NG+ can be an excellent way to recontextualize a game for a second playthrough. If you can offset the player's increased capability with a new challenge, such as the aforementioned Nightmare Mode, then that's even better.

New leaks detail many of the characters, including possible Templars, who appear in Assassin's Creed Hexe.

According to Ubisoft Quebec, the following is carried over when activating Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced's New Game+ mode:

Of critical note is that, like other action-RPGs, difficulty is automatically increased in Black Flag Resynced 's New Game+: "With each New Game+ playthrough, the seas become more dangerous.
