The Lord of the Rings: Wolves of Mordor is Live Now

Standing Stone Games and Daybreak Games have officially launched The Wolves of Mordor, a brand-new story expansion DLC for The Lord of the Rings Online. Despite being almost two decades old, at the time of writing, The Lord of the Rings Online continues to receive updates, with the latest release offering a first-ever chance for players to learn about the lesser-known beasts and history of Mordor and the lands beyond Gorgoroth.

Author J. R. R. Tolkien first published The Hobbit in 1937 before releasing The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring and The Two Towers in 1954, with The Return of the King making its way to readers in 1955. Decades later, director Peter Jackson adapted The Lord of the Rings into three movies that would become widely recognized as one of the greatest film trilogies ever made. It was no surprise that the epic stories quickly spread across various forms of media, earning multiple Lord of the Rings video game adaptations. Among the most popular was 2007's The Lord of the Rings Online, which offered a faithful recreation of Tolkien's Middle-earth with immersive exploration and engaging battles. The game has maintained a loyal player base and active community over the years, and the studios behind the game are once again giving fans even more content to enjoy.

Middle-earth Enterprises and its partner officially reveal Lord of the Rings: Crown of Gondor.

The Lord of the Rings Online: The Wolves of Mordor begins after the War of the Ring has been won, at a time when the Free Peoples of Middle-earth believe that the threat of Sauron no longer lingers.
