Geralt of Rivia is the heart of The Witcher franchise. The character was originally brought to life in a short story by Andrzej Sapkowski that was published in 1986, and since then, Sapkowski has penned a beloved book series centered around Geralt's adventures. That eventually led to game, film, and TV adaptations, which have helped introduce The Witcher to a much wider audience over the years.
CD Projekt Red's game series, based on Sapkowski's work, is one of the most recognizable versions of Geralt and the world of The Witcher. Once The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt hit the scene, the series reached a new level of popularity. With confirmation that CD Projekt Red is making The Witcher 4, and The Witcher 3 recently getting the remaster treatment, it's wild to think how well-known Geralt has become, regardless of which actor is playing him. Every adaptation has brought something fresh to the character, but some performances have been stronger than others.
From Geralt to Ciri and Triss, The Witcher is packed with powerful characters who can accomplish incredible things.
Being at the bottom of the list doesn't mean that Sam Stafford is a bad choice for Geralt. He's simply very new to the character, so he hasn't had as much time to truly embody him in the same way that the rest of the actors on this list have. For those who aren't familiar with Stafford, he recently took over as Geralt in The Witcher audiobooks. Stafford makes his debut as a younger Geralt in the recently released Crossroads of Ravens .
