Mass Effect: Legendary Edition could finally regain one of its most notable missing features with a major fan-made restoration targeting this year's N7 Day celebration. Although Mass Effect: Legendary Edition brought BioWare's original trilogy to modern platforms in 2021, one beloved component of Mass Effect 3 was notably missing, and fans have craved that experience ever since.
When Legendary Edition first launched, fans were disappointed to learn BioWare chose not to include the widely celebrated Mass Effect 3 co-op multiplayer mode. The studio explained that restoring its online infrastructure would have required substantial development work, with additional complications surrounding ME3's progression systems and ongoing support. Instead, BioWare focused its resources on updating the trilogy's single-player campaigns with new visuals and updated gameplay. That decision ultimately meant players who wanted the full Mass Effect 3 experience still had to return to the original 2012 release over the enhanced re-release. However, Mass Effect community mods may fix that problem soon.
One of EA's office buildings is the target of vandalism by disgruntled fans, angered over the closure of BioWare and the cancellation of Mass Effect.
According to PC Gamer , the ME3Tweaks modding team is preparing to release its restoration of Mass Effect 3 multiplayer for Legendary Edition on November 7, better known to fans as N7 Day. The project has reportedly been in development for three years and goes far beyond simply porting the original multiplayer into the remastered collection. Modder Audemus describes the project as an extensive remaster, incorporating upgraded textures, lighting, and shaders alongside HDR support, native controller functionality, and a redesigned interface.
