The Outlander Diamond Trail Edition sports a new Rock drive mode and rugged off-road-focused bodywork.
Mitsubishi is rolling out its most capable Outlander ever for 2028. While the standard Outlander tends to fall to the sidelines against others in its compact-SUV segment, this new off-road-focused trim could help the Outlander stand out in a highly competitive space.
The Outlander Diamond Trail Edition will feature rugged bodywork, all-terrain tires, and specialized approach and departure angles in the front and rear bumpers. It’ll also come with Rock mode, which provides more traction to suppress wheelslip and automatically activates Hill Descent Control.
On the outside, the Diamond Trail Edition will wear a rugged matte black grille, redesigned bumpers, aggressive fender flares, raised roof rails, and 18-inch black alloy wheels with Nexen Roadian ATX tires. Trail Green Metallic, a new earthy green paint color, will make its debut with the Diamond Trail Edition.
Inside, the off-roader is clothed in dark gray seats with khaki-colored stitching and features matte black, chrome, and satin finishes inside the cabin. The seatbacks, floor mats, and door trim will sport the special Diamond Trail Edition logo, which is meant to symbolize athletes on a downhill skiing course while referencing Mitsubishi’s diamond motif.
The Outlander Diamond Trail Edition is one of six vehicles that Mitsubishi plans to show at SEMA in Las Vegas this year as part of its Momentum 2030 project, which aims to boost Mitsubishi’s North American presence by 2030. The plan places a heavy emphasis on developing more rugged, off-road-ready vehicles.
