Eva Longoria was one of many stars who paid tribute to her culture at the sixth annual Día de Muertos Gala in Los Angeles on Tuesday night. Hosted by Carlos Eric Lopez at the Universal Studios backlot, the event celebrates the spirit of Día de Muertos while honoring creatives in underserved communities.
Longoria wore her own take on traditional Calavera, or sugar skull, makeup and kept it simple, opting for a headpiece-style arrangement of embellishments. Black oval gemstones formed the shape of the letter M, with the tips reaching her hairline before descending to follow the initial curve of her cheekbones. A glossy red lip, pink blush and shimmery gold eye shadow added to the vivacity of the 51-year-old actress’ glam, completed by flowing chocolate brown tresses and a black and red floral crown.
Los Angeles- and Mexico City-based celebrity hairstylist Luca Ala styled her locks while frequent collaborator Elan Bongiorno designed Longoria’s glam for the night. Bongiorno — whose clientele also includes Jane Fonda and Heather Locklear — did Longoria’s makeup for previous high-scale events such as the Academy Museum Gala. WWD has reached out to Ala and Bongiorno for comment.
With her hair pushed back thanks to the intricate headpiece, Longoria let her makeup take center stage. The “Flamin’ Hot” director kept the shiny black theme going, dressed in a long-sleeved, full-length sequined black gown. A chunky silver bracelet, hoop earrings and ring completed her look.
A longtime global brand ambassador and spokesperson for L’Oréal Paris, Longoria has consistently turned to simple accentuating glam recently.
