The IPCC Is Looking For Feedback On Its New CDR/CCUS Methodology Report

The International Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) is currently accepting feedback on its 2027 Methodology Report on Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR) Technologies, Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage (CCUS) for National Greenhouse Gas Inventories.

Interested parties can now provide their opinions on a draft version of the report that provides governments around the world with guidelines on how they can account for their carbon dioxide removals.

Once approved, this publication is expected to have a major impact on the future development of CDR technologies on a global level.

The draft report on the methodology has been put together by qualified experts, and the first version of the material is now made available to a wider group of reviewers.

Anyone holding the right expertise and interested in providing comments can apply to do so through this link.

In October 2025, the IPPC held its 63rd session in Lima, Peru, where attendees agreed on the creation of the Methodology Report. The task was then entrusted to around 150 Coordinating Lead Authors and Lead Authors, who took part in the preparation of the report in 2026.

The authors were selected by the Task Force Bureau, who took into account scientific and technical expertise, as well as geographical and gender balance to the extent possible in line with Appendix A to the Principles Governing IPCC Work.
