Regenerate Outcomes To Protect Buyers With Insurance In Case Of A Carbon Credit Supply Shortfall

Regenerate Outcomes, a program helping farmers heal soils and generate carbon credits that are then offered to corporate buyers, has announced that it has secured insurance to protect buyers in the case of credit supply shortfall.

Specifically, the insurance applies to the company’s soil carbon project registered with Verra with ID 4453, and it will be offered to buyers of Verified Carbon Units (VCUs).

With this move, the company is addressing an ongoing issue of delivery uncertainty happening in a market with limited vetted credit supplies. “This is an important milestone for our project and a positive step forward for buyer confidence in the nature-based carbon removal market,” the company said in a publication.

“We firmly believe that robust risk management, including insurance, has an important role to play in building trust and confidence in this emerging market,” Regenerate Outcomes added.

Using the VM0042 Improved Agricultural Land Management methodology with the Verified Carbon Standard (VCS), Regenerate Outcomes generates high-integrity carbon credits that benefit nature and the climate, as well as rural communities.

Based in the United Kingdom, Regenerate Outcomes is the first British-origin soil carbon program to be registered with Verra.

As part of its operations, the initiative partners with British farmers, supporting them in the adoption of regenerative land management practices that deliver soil improvements and an increase in carbon stocks, boosting agricultural resilience in the country.

To prepare farmers for carbon markets, its team offers what the company calls the highest integrity soil carbon baseline, at no upfront cost.
