The Carbon Removal Alliance has released a statement following the Midterm Elections in the United States, underlining that the carbon dioxide removal (CDR) industry is ready to deliver jobs and innovations in the country in the newly created political environment.
This week, it became clear that the US Democrats have won the Senate and the House in the country’s midterm elections, taking control of Congress for the rest of Donald Trump’s presidency.
With this turn of events, many are optimistic about the future of climate solutions in the country, after this sector faced major uncertainties and funding cuts during the past two years.
In this new reality, the Carbon Removal Alliance says it welcomes new and returning lawmakers to partner on advancing economic and environmental priorities.
“Throughout the election, Americans made clear that they want leaders focused on building an America that supports their needs. To do that, we need to focus on America’s future and support not only existing industries but also build the industries of the future,” said Giana Amador, executive director of the Carbon Removal Alliance.
Highlighting that U.S. innovators are already putting steel in the ground, creating skilled jobs, and revitalizing local economies, Amador also noted that the United Nations recently reaffirmed the critical need for both CDR and emissions reductions for limiting global warming, adding, “We look forward to making sure this important work happens right here in the U.S.”
Created in 2023, the Carbon Removal Alliance brings together strategists, advocates, and CDR industry leaders on a mission of building a quality CO2 removal industry ready to reach gigaton scale.
