A US energy giant will deliver a total of 10 mobile turbines capable of generating up to 300 megawatts (MW) of electricity to a US customer amid growing demand for reliable power across the country.
New York’s New Fortress Energy (NFE) announced the deal on Thursday, October 29. As part of it, will lease the turbines to the undisclosed investment-grade firm for an initial period of five years.
According to the company, the equipment will be delivered in stages, starting in the fourth quarter of 2026. The final deliveries are expected in the first quarter of 2027. The deal is set to bring in more revenue from NFE’s existing equipment.
Wes Edens, NFE’s CEO, stressed the significance of the agreement. “We evaluated several opportunities for these turbines, and we believe that partnering with an investment-grade counterparty in the United States best aligned with NFE’s priorities,” he added.
Mobile turbines are a useful alternative to traditional power plants. The reason for this is that they can be transferred to locations where additional power is required and supply extra electricity during periods of high demand.
Under the agreement, the 10 turbines have a combined generation capacity of up to 300 MW. Still, NFE has not disclosed their models, fuel requirements, or where they will operate. The firm also did not identify the US customer or specify how the electricity would be used.
NFE stressed that the deal follows an evaluation of several potential opportunities for the equipment. It selected the US customer as the agreement aligned with its financial and operational priorities.
