Once rumored to go by a different name, Samsung’s Galaxy Buds On open-ear designs have appeared with a little more detail in new images, suggesting these earbuds might become official sooner rather than later.

The Galaxy Buds On have been leaked several times over the last couple of months, though rumors suggested the earbuds would go by “Galaxy Buds Able” instead of the “Galaxy Buds On” name. That information was gleaned from Samsung’s Wearable app in early July, though the first of the two names seems to be an internal moniker.

New images of the Galaxy Buds On have surfaced (via Android Headlines). Previously, we’ve seen detailed renders and icon images, but nothing that looks like it could be official from Samsung. The new photos look a little cleaner, and one looks likely to be from the marketing team.

The Galaxy Buds On images also show what they look like when worn properly – that is, clipped around the ears rather than resting in them. It’s also a different style from the open-ear design worn over the ear. They look uncomfortable, but the design is already plentiful in certain regions, suggesting it’s a popular form factor.

It’s hard to pick up any details from the earbud images or to determine which port is the driver and which is the microphone for ambient noise detection. Even if that were determined properly, there’s no telling how they’ll sound prior to release.

The Galaxy Buds On were reported to have a few interesting features when previous images were leaked, such as an “Auto Volume” setting and head-nod and shake gesture control.
