The Worlds 2026 Swiss Stage begins on October 23, with eight best-of-one matches setting the first records in a 16-team race for eight Knockout Stage spots. Each winner moves to 1-0 and each loser to 0-1; three wins secure qualification, while a third loss ends a team’s tournament.
The Play-In has concluded and the last participant has joined the main-event field. As Sheep Esports reports, Round 1 matchups cross regional lines under the draw rules, giving every team its first step toward either a 3-0 start or the pressure of climbing back from 0-1.
The 16-team lineup spans the game’s competing regions, with the opening draw pairing teams from separate pools. The Worlds 2026 field now has its first opponents, while the Play-In route that completed the lineup is covered in the Worlds 2026 Play-In results.
Gen.G meets Invictus Gaming, while Team Liquid Alienware faces CTBC Flying Oyster. Anyone’s Legend draws Karmine Corp, G2 Esports plays Dplus KIA, and Hanwha Life Esports takes on Top Esports.
The rest of the slate has LØS against T1, Team Secret Whales against LYON, and Bilibili Gaming against Movistar KOI. The first-round format bars teams from the same region from meeting; four pools shape the pairings, with Pool 1 facing Pool 4 and Pool 2 facing Pool 3.
That structure sets the starting lines, not a forecast: all eight matches are best-of-one, and every winner will share the same 1-0 record for the next draw.
