One Piece is currently in its final saga, and here, Eiichiro Oda is expanding upon the concept of Gods with each successive release. Gods in the world of One Piece were teased long ago with the release of Chapter 287, on August 11, 2003. However, back then, they were simply myths in the world of One Piece. With various power systems receiving tremendous exposition from Eiichiro Oda, these gods now play an incredible, important role in the Final Saga.
Monkey D. Luffy, the protagonist of One Piece, wields the power of a God, and there are many others like him. Now, in the climax of the Elbaf arc, Eiichiro Oda has unveiled to us the strongest Blue Planet god in history, and it is none other than the Akuma himself, Nerona Imu.
Nerona Imu is the King of the One Piece world and known to be one of the strongest characters of all time. Up until Elbaf, Imu made most of his moves from the Holy Land of Marijoa and chose not to get directly involved in the ongoing events. However, with the release of One Piece chapter 1179 on April 5, 2026, in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump Issue 19, things changed forever. For the very first time, Nerona Imu left the Holy Land of Marijoa and made an appearance in Elbaf himself. Imu's direct involvement in the Elbaf arc meant that, for the very first time, Eiichiro Oda was giving us a proper look at the demonic abilities of this absolute monster .
