Warrior Cats: Clans of the Forest, a brand-new turn-based action-adventure game inspired by the beloved book series, has just made its way to Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. In the wake of its launch, official reviews for Warrior Cats: Clans of the Forest have started to roll in, but they're looking a little mixed.
Written by multiple authors under the pen name Erin Hunter, the Warrior Cats book series made its debut in 2003. Over the last 23 years, a total of nine Warrior Cats arcs have been released, each one revolving around new heroes that come from each of the universe's distinct nature-based Clans. While the ongoing book series has continued to be the most widely popular aspect of the franchise, Warrior Cats has branched out into several other mediums, including the world of video games. In 2021, an official Warrior Cats game was made available in Roblox, and now, fans have access to a full-fledged, standalone Warrior Cats turn-based RPG.
Don't miss out on any of October's free games across Steam, Epic Games Store, Amazon Prime Gaming, PlayStation Plus, and Xbox Game Pass.
Generally speaking, Warrior Cats: Clans of the Forest hasn't been met with the strongest critical reception. Of the four official outlet reviews available at the time of writing, COGconnected has given Warrior Cats: Clans of the Forest the highest score, giving the newly released adaptation a 77/100. COGconnected heavily praises Warrior Cats ' art design , character customization features, and the game's family-friendly nature, but does point out key issues with the game's story and its underdeveloped mechanics and core structure.
