Tropico 7 is coming to Xbox Game Pass on January 27, 2027. Its release date announcement, which amounts to a small delay, also makes it the second officially confirmed Xbox Game Pass catalog addition for January 2027.
Tropico 7 will arrive nearly eight years after the previous mainline installment in the long-running city-builder franchise, which originally debuted in March 2019. The gap between the two numbered entries does not mean the series has been dormant throughout that period: Tropico 6 received years' worth of post-launch additions, with its most recent expansion, Return to Nature, arriving in March 2025. Development has nevertheless changed hands for the sequel. Whereas Limbic Entertainment created Tropico 6 before Realmforge Studios took over its later support, Tropico 7 is being developed by fellow Kalypso subsidiary Gaming Minds Studios.
The Xbox Game Pass catalog is in for another large downsizing wave on October 31, when it is confirmed to be losing at least 8 titles.
The seventh numbered entry in the popular franchise has recently locked down a release date: January 28, 2027. The move amounts to a small delay because the title was initially revealed as a 2026 title, albeit without ever narrowing down that release window any further. As originally announced, Tropico 7 will be a day-one addition to the Xbox Game Pass catalog . It will be available on the Xbox Series X/S and PC, as well as through Xbox Cloud Gaming. Its Xbox Store listing was also recently updated with the "handheld" label, indicating that the dictatorial city builder will be specifically optimized for devices such as the ROG Xbox Ally line.
