Rust Premium Officially Confirmed and It’s Not What Players Feared

It's the first Thursday of the month, which means Rust servers have been wiped. According to the Printed and Polished patch notes, this update is mostly focused on optimization and ensuring the game is in the best possible state. However, there is one entry that stands out. We finally have information about Rust Premium, and many fans will be happy to hear that it's not a Battle Pass.

At the beginning of the year, Facepunch shared a roadmap detailing what it wanted to implement in Rust throughout 2026. It included a "Battle Pass system" scheduled for the final quarter of the year. However, when the roadmap was revised in August, the divisive battle pass was replaced with Rust Premium. At the moment, Rust Premium grants players access to Premium servers, namely official Facepunch servers, which don't rely on community moderators and have fewer cheaters.

Previously, to get Premium status, players needed to have at least $15 in Rust items in their Steam inventory. But that is about to change. According to the patch notes, Rust Premium will soon receive a complete overhaul, turning into a paid monthly service with exclusive perks. Those include "high-quality" skins (clothing, deployables, collectibles) and useful non-gameplay features. There will be no leveling up, quests, challenges, or anything that resembles a Battle Pass system.

The description is fairly vague, but it seems like Rust Premium subscribers will gain access to exclusive quality-of-life features. Perhaps it'll even include a character customization feature that players have been begging for since the model overhaul.
