It looks like the first Persona might be the next game in the series to get the remake treatment, as an incredibly convincing trailer has suddenly leaked online.
Although the long-awaited Persona 6 might be the most exciting thing to do with the future of the series, Atlus and Sega are also keeping fans well-fed with remakes of the games that came before Persona 5 made the franchise a household name. Persona 3 Reload kickstarted the remake efforts two years ago, and Persona 4 Revival is set to carry it on in just a few months.
Considering how popular Persona 3 and Persona 4 already were, though, it wasn't a surprise to see them both get a new, Persona 5-esque lease of life. The real question mark was the much more obscure and underappreciated first two Persona games, which would need some major reworking to fit in with the rest of the series. If a recent leak is to be believed, that's exactly what's happening.
The allegedly leaked trailer for the Persona remake, subtitled Be Your True Mind, was highlighted by Redditor Dastanovich on the GamingLeaksAndRumours subreddit, and appears to have originally been posted on gofile by an unknown user. The trailer makes it clear that the remake will unsurprisingly follow the more modern Persona entries, albeit with the darker atmosphere of the original game.
It's been two decades since this emo masterpiece first reared its head.
Alongside showing off some stylish menus and the protagonist running through some narrow hallways, we also get to see a quick glimpse of combat, which is also very similar to the recent remakes and Persona 5.
