The track-ready sedan can zip to 60 mph in 2.7 seconds and wears aggressive aerodynamics and carbon-fiber bodywork.
Personalization is the latest trend to sweep the automotive world, with nearly every high-end automaker launching a specific division that caters to the needs of its wealthiest customers. Porsche has Sonderwunsch, Bugatti has Sur Mesure, and Rolls-Royce has its Coachbuild program. Now Karma Automotive, a small American brand known for slinky plug-in hybrid sedans, is launching its own program called Eximius, and has revealed its first one-off, the Eximius 1, at the Concours at Wynn in Las Vegas.
Karma Automotive, if you aren’t familiar, was birthed from the ashes of Fisker Automotive, and has sold an evolution of the Fisker Karma, known as the Revero and GS-6, on and off for most of the past decade. The Revero is a series hybrid, with a turbocharged three-cylinder serving as a generator to charge a battery that feeds electricity to a pair of rear-mounted electric motors. Although the Revero is being replaced by the new Gyesera, which further hones the same design and powertrain philosophy, this year, Karma is making sure the Revero goes out with a bang with this new one-off.
The Eximius 1 takes the Revero platform and turns it up to eleven. This special one-off trades the three-cylinder for a far more compelling engine. 2-liter V-8, and the plug-in series hybrid powertrain produces a total of 1195 horsepower, which is well over 600 hp more than you get in the Revero.
