Hideo Kojima's Death Stranding Anime Looks Impressive in First Official Trailer

Hideo Kojima's Death Stranding series brought the Metal Gear Solid creator's trademark arthouse approach to video games to full fruition. With no plans for Death Stranding 3, besides a concept draft, fans are instead looking forward to the game's universe expanding into different media, including anime.

Death Stranding Isolations was announced in 2025. This original net anime will be a new story with different protagonists from Death Stranding and Death Stranding 2: On the Beach. The first trailer, released on Oct. 30, shows one of the two main characters, a girl with blonde hair. She is tormented by visions of Beached Things (BTs), the souls of the dead that are stranded in the world of the living. The anime's subtitle is "My mom became a crater," a reference to the voidouts, the massive explosions triggered when a BT consumes a human.

Death Stranding Isolations will be animated by E&H Production, a relatively new animation studio founded by MAPPA veteran Sunghoo Park, whose credits include Ninja Kamui and the upcoming Magic Knight Rayearth remake. Isolations will be directed by Takyuki Sano (Attack on Titan: The Last Attack, Jujutsu Kaisen 0), an industry veteran making his directorial debut. The screenplay comes from Tow Ubukata, an award-winning novelist and screenwriter famous for Psycho-Pass 2 and 3.

This is not the only project in the works for Kojima's Death Stranding universe. Michael Sarnoski ( A Quiet Place: Day One ) will write and direct a movie for A24 that will act as a prequel to the games.
