Earlier today, Rockstar Games released the launch trailer for Grand Theft Auto 6. It’s a good trailer that includes some steamy moments between Jason and Lucia. It also features a Grand Theft Auto tradition at the very end: The same dude saying the game’s name at the end in a deep voice.
On October 15, Rockstar dropped a new GTA 6 trailer which will likely be used heavily by Rockstar for advertising on TV and elsewhere. And as such, unlike past GTA 6 trailers, this one features a narrator at the very end chiming in to tell you the game’s name and when it will launch, as well as its ESRB rating. You can hear it below.
For all the longtime GTA fans, like myself, who have grown up playing these games and getting hyped for each new release, that voice is extremely comforting as we’ve heard it many, many times before. Since Grand Theft Auto 3, each GTA launch trailer has featured, at the very end, seemingly the same dude and his deep voice. In GTA 3 and Vice City’s trailers, Rockstar hadn’t quite nailed the formula yet. But starting with San Andreas, the classic “GRAND THEFT AUTO…” ending narration had fully developed.
Since then, that dude and his voice have appeared in the launch trailers for Liberty City Stories, Vice City Stories, GTA IV, and GTA V . Rockstar has also included this bit of narration in the launch trailers for Red Dead Redemption and RDR2 .
