A GamesBeat report claims that Grand Theft Auto 6—which still hasn't been announced for PC—will launch for PC sometime within the first three months of 2027. If correct, that means the game will drop, at most, just four months after its initial release on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles.
GamesBeat cites "four industry sources familiar with the studio's plans" in its report, all of whom requested anonymity. Rockstar has not yet commented on the claim.
It's a surprising claim. Earlier this year, we predicted that GTA 6 won't likely appear on PC before November 2027, mainly because that's just how Rockstar rolls. We always have to wait.
Compared to that, a four month break between the console and PC releases, and possibly less, seems downright snappy, especially given how the gaps between GTA games themselves have grown over the decades.
Not only would a Q1 release of GTA 6 on PC be an unusually brief break, it also puts the game in the midst of the post-holiday hangover, when we're all doing our best to nurse our bruised and battered bank balances back to health.
And that, I think, would feel especially egregious in the immediate aftermath of this year's holiday season, which for gamers will be driven by the release of GTA 6 on consoles. Rockstar loves the double dip , but punching the button again so soon after the console release would surely be viewed dimly by a not-insignificant number of people who would prefer the flexibility and power of the PC, but really don't want to wait for it.
