A new petition to save Mass Effect spreads online and picks up thousands of signatures quickly.
As reported by French publication BFM, multiple former BioWare employees confirmed they had been asked to remove the LGBQTIA+ flag from Mass Effect Universe. Multiple anonymous former employees said that when they presented video proposals to EA's new management, the managers were seemingly "not convinced" by their presentation. One presenter said that EA asked them to remove an in-game flag that was similar to the LGBTQIA+ flag, so as "not to offend anyone." The former employee also suggested that BioWare's inclusive stories and romances may have been another reason for EA's new management objective to certain elements of the game.
The fallout from the cancellation of Mass Effect Universe has elicited significant backlash from fans of the franchise.
