Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Part 2 Faces Its Biggest Modern Challenge

2027 is set up to be one of the best years for anime movies, with massive new announcements having been made already. While the most anticipated movie for the next year is, undoubtedly, Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Part 2, there are other strong contenders on the way that rival it. Among them is Solo Leveling: Beyond the System, a newly announced release by Aniplex and A1 Pictures, which is projected to be released next year as well.

Infinity Castle Part 2 will feature exciting battles, with confrontations involving powerful Villains, such as Upper Rank 1 Kokushibo and Upper Rank 2 Doma. On the other hand, Solo Leveling will blow all competition out of the water with the adaptation of Jinwoo's biggest challenge yet — the battle against the Architect of the System. Solo Leveling is thus stepping up as one of the biggest modern challengers for Ufotable’s Demon Slayer franchise.

Demon Slayer set up its end with the announcement of a movie trilogy in 2024 when the fourth anime season concluded. In July 2025, this long-awaited trilogy of movies was officially kickstarted with Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Part 1 — Akaza's Return. This movie did big numbers both in Japan and overseas, eventually making it the most successful Japanese global movie release of all time, ahead of even its predecessor, the box office hit, Demon Slayer: Mugen Train.

” Technically, even in late 2026, we still have no official release date for this upcoming movie. However, all major reports point to a 2027 release date.
