Flipkart expands Eat-in pilot to over 8,000 employees

Flipkart has expanded the pilot of its food delivery service Eat-in by Minutes to over 8,000 employees as it prepares to enter a market dominated by Zomato and Swiggy, according to sources familiar with the matter.

The Walmart-owned ecommerce major is offering the service through a dedicated tab on its main app. The company is currently testing the service with employees and seeking feedback before a wider rollout.

The company is offering promotional benefits to employees using the service, including order discounts and enhanced SuperCoins rewards, according to the promotional material.

Flipkart has also deployed delivery partners wearing Eat-in by Minutes branded uniforms in Bengaluru. TechCrunch reported that the company is using a dedicated fleet through its logistics arm Ekart, separate from the riders handling orders for its quick commerce service, Flipkart Minutes.

Flipkart initially started testing Eat-in among employees in Bengaluru ahead of a wider rollout.

Flipkart had confirmed its plans to enter food delivery in July. The service marks its entry into a market where Zomato and Swiggy remain the dominant players.

The company already operates its quick commerce service Flipkart Minutes, which delivers groceries and other products to customers within a short time. Its entry into food delivery will add another category to its existing ecommerce business.
