Thunes now allows banks and payment providers to send money directly to Venezuelan bank accounts in real time.
Members of its Direct Global Network can process transfers through Credito Inmediato Interbancario, Venezuela’s instant interbank payment system.
The expansion supports remittances and freelancer payouts through money transfer operators and gig economy platforms.
Remittances remain an important source of income in Venezuela. Inflows were estimated at US$6 billion in 2025, equivalent to 7 percent of GDP. About half originated from the United States.
The new corridor also supports payments to mobile wallets and cash pickup locations, according to Thunes.
“Latin America remains a pivotal growth region for Thunes, and Venezuela’s market demands fast, transparent, and accessible cross-border financial infrastructure.
By opening this corridor, we empower our network Members to deliver life-changing financial connectivity to millions of individuals and businesses.”
The corridor uses Thunes’ SmartX Treasury System for liquidity management and its Fortress Compliance Platform to support regulatory compliance.
