“This is a huge step for Polygon,” the company said in the post. “We’ve spent years building infrastructure that moves money onchain. Now Polygon has more of what it takes to support the whole payment: from the moment dollars enter the system to the moment someone receives the money they can use.”
Polygon’s U.S. payments business now provides the company with coverage across 48 states, with 37 money transmitter licenses and 11 applicable extensions. The business is also registered with the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) as a money services business, according to the post.

This addition means that the Polygon Open Money Stack includes regulated access along with the components it already offered, including accounts and wallets to hold funds, infrastructure to route payments across chains, and settlement rails to move value around the clock, per the post.
“Polygon connects those capabilities with banking and payout infrastructure so a payments team can build a complete flow through one integration, instead of managing every handoff itself,” the company said in the post.
Polygon announced in January that it planned to acquire Coinme, which was founded in 2014 as one of the first licensed digital currency exchanges in the United States, to gain money transmitter licenses and compliance infrastructure that allow operations in 48 states.
