EBANX Plans Pakistan Launch, Expands Apple Pay Processing in LATAM

EBANX is preparing to launch payment operations in Pakistan in the first half of 2027.

The company will initially support local digital wallets JazzCash and Easypaisa, followed by Raast, Pakistan’s national instant payment system.

The move follows EBANX launches in Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam and Türkiye this year.

“Pakistan is a classic mobile-first market where smartphone ownership runs 20 to 40 percentage points ahead of card ownership. This makes local account-based payment methods, bank transfers, and digital wallets the key to winning market share.

This payment fragmentation is challenging for global businesses, but bridging local payment infrastructure with global merchant needs is precisely what we have specialised in for over a decade.”

said Eduardo de Abreu, CPO of EBANX and regional CEO of EBANX Singapore.

EBANX is also rolling out a new Apple Pay processing model across Latin America and the Caribbean.

The company will decrypt Apple Pay tokens within its own infrastructure and manage the related certificates, security keys and Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard compliance, removing the need for merchants to handle decryption themselves.

EBANX said early data showed tokenised wallet payments achieved a 94.4% approval rate, 11 percentage points higher than non-tokenised card transactions.

The company plans to extend the Apple Pay setup across the 11 Latin American and Caribbean markets where Apple Pay operates and EBANX provides local acquiring.
