Xpeng launches Mona L05 SUV to bolster Q4 sales push

Xpeng (NYSE: XPEV) has launched the Mona L05 5-seat SUV in China with a limited-time starting price of 139,800 yuan ($20,820), expanding its lineup to drive sales growth.

The Chinese electric vehicle maker officially launched the mid-size SUV on Thursday, offering 6 variants across battery electric vehicle (BEV) and extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) powertrains.

The Mona L05 carries official guide prices ranging from 144,800 yuan to 176,800 yuan. Customers who pay a 5,000 yuan deposit by December 15 can receive a 5,000 yuan cash discount.

After the discount, limited-time prices range from 139,800 yuan to 171,800 yuan. The 4 BEV variants span that entire range, while the 2 EREV variants are priced at 149,800 yuan and 161,800 yuan, respectively.

Compared with the pre-sales lineup announced on October 15, the launch adds a new entry-level 560 Plus BEV variant. Official guide prices for the 5 existing variants are each 15,000 yuan below their pre-sales prices.

This brings the Mona L05 to market at a lower entry price, supporting Xpeng's fourth-quarter sales push. The company's year-to-date deliveries remain below the year-earlier level.

The Mona L05 is the third model in the Mona lineup, positioned above the Mona L03 compact SUV launched in July, as Xpeng continues to target younger consumers.

The new model measures 4,870 mm in length, 1,930 mm in width and 1,636 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,940 mm. It features a sloping roofline and frameless doors.

The BEV variants offer a maximum CLTC range of 635 kilometers (395 miles), while the EREV variants have a CLTC battery range of 310 kilometers and a combined range of 1,310 kilometers with a full tank and a fully charged battery.
