Toyota introduced a new family of lifted, “adventure-ready” Woodland concepts based on the RAV4, Grand Highlander, Sienna, Crown Signia, and bZ electric SUV.
Toyota is the latest automaker to chase the highly profitable off-road market in the US, with plans to expand its “Woodland” lineup.
Although it already sells Woodland versions of the RAV4, Sienna, bZ, and most recently, the Grand Highlander, Toyota said the new family of concept vehicles is “designed for drivers who see adventure not as a destination, but a way of life.”
Toyota’s North American design studio, CALTY Design Research, designed the concepts to explore how some of its most popular nameplates can be used better on and off the road.
Each vehicle features Horizon Blue exterior paint, inspired by Toyota’s 1960s models, including the Stout, Crown, and Corona.
All new concepts also include an exclusive Woodland badge, plus a lift kit, large over-fenders, satin-black wheels, All-Terrain tires, two-tone paint on the roof and hood, a roof rack, and cross bars to top it off.
According to Toyota, the RAV4 Woodland Plug-In Hybrid and Sienna Woodland Concepts show how its “electrified and family-focused vehicles take on a more adventurous role.”
The electric Woodland bZ Concept “extends the Woodland theme into Toyota’s battery electric future.” Meanwhile, the Grand Highlander Woodland Concept and Crown Signia Woodland Concept bring two distinct models to the lineup, Toyota said.
The company didn’t reveal any powertrain specs or other details, but said the concepts show how capability can take many forms, including PHEV, hybrid, and battery electric.
