The Lexus NX compact crossover is getting a makeover for 2027. The gas-only version has been scrapped from the lineup, leaving just the hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrains on the table—and both get improvements.
A larger-capacity high-voltage battery enables a longer all-electric driving range on the 2027 Lexus NX 450h+ plug-in hybrid. What’s more, a native Tesla-style NACS charging port can now handle DC fast charging, significantly slashing waiting times.
The 2027 Lexus NX 450h+ gets DC fast-charging capabilities for the first time. In North America, it will come with a NACS charging port.
The plug-in crossover gets a 22.7-kilowatt-hour battery pack, up from the outgoing model’s 18.1 kWh, enabling a manufacturer-estimated 45 miles of range on electricity. That’s eight miles more than the previous model.
When it comes to charging, Lexus said the new NX 450h+ can go from 10% to 80% in 35 minutes when hooked to a 50-kilowatt DC fast charger. On AC charging, using a 6.6 kW 240-volt charger, the crossover needs two and a half hours to go from 10% to 100% state of charge.
Power is also up compared to the previous model. The NX 450h+ PHEV comes standard with electric all-wheel drive and delivers a combined system output of 324 horsepower, up from 304 hp in the 2026 model. The gain in power is mainly attributed to the front motor-generator, which now makes 203 hp instead of 180 hp. 5-liter gas engine delivers 186 hp, and the rear-axle electric motor is good for 54 hp.
