Tesla earlier this year started delivering its next-generation superchargers, which offer twice the speed of previous generations thanks to the new V4 supercharger power cabinet.
Now, the company has opened its first site in Australia that features this technology, and it could be the start of a broader deployment initiative of its fastest charging tech to date.
This first site is located in Sydney, in the suburb of Leichhardt and features 6 stalls, with power rating of 415 kW each. This is above the current 250-325 kW, often seen at some recently opened supercharger sites.
On Tesla’s charging X page, the company shared: “New Tesla Supercharger: Leichhardt, NSW, Australia (6 stalls)”.
Power to this site was also confirmed by a Tesla Supercharger expert, Alex, on X, who shared: “First full V4 Supercharger in APAC now open in Leichhardt, NSW, Australia (6 stalls, 415 kW).”
There was also confirmation that the new superchargers are fed by cabinets that support 400-1000 Volts, with Alex sharing that up to 500 kW can be achieved with the new setup, on a dedicated transformer.

Tesla has been ramping up production of the new V4 cabinets, which the company has previously said will make the rollout of new sites easier.
Earlier this year, the company confirmed that it had stopped production of the older V3 cabinets for Superchargers. At the time, it shared that after 7 years and 15,000 cabinets, it planned to produce only the latest generation of EV charging equipment at its factory in New York.
