Renault believes Duster Hybrid has the right recipe for success

The French automaker expects its new hybrid SUV to stand out on pricing, fuel economy and technology, with electrification set to play a bigger role in its India portfolio.

Renault sees strong interest in hybrid technology in India, with Duster Hybrid arriving at a time when few rivals offer hybrids.

Duster Hybrid has built a waiting list that has exceeded Renault’s expectations, according to Francisco Hidalgo.

Petrol’s market share has fallen from around 50% to 40% over the past six-seven months amid higher fuel prices.

Hybrid technology will remain a key part of Renault’s strategy, with future products above four metres expected to feature electrification.

Francisco Hidalgo believes there is genuine interest in India in new and alternative technologies. “This is why I think we arrived at the perfect time with Duster Hybrid . Launching it a few months earlier would have been even better but we are still at the perfect time when most of our competitors do not have hybrids,” Renault Group India’s Vice President, Sales & Marketing, told ET Auto. According to him, the company has not just come with a hybrid but the “best” hybrid technology . “The real Duster journey begins now,” he said. Advt
