Arla Foods has added four additional battery-electric DAF XD Electric trucks to its electric fleet. The 6x2 trucks will deliver chilled dairy products in Denmark and will utilise a new charging facility located at the company's Hobro depot.
Danish dairy giant Arla Foods continues to expand its electric truck fleet. The company has taken delivery of four additional DAF XD Electric trucks. Last year, Arla already put three vehicles of this type into operation.
The new vehicles are 6×2 rigid trucks with a power output of 350 kW and a 525-kWh battery. DAF specifies a range of up to 550 km. The trucks will be used to deliver chilled dairy products in Denmark.
The XD Electric models make up part of DAF’s now broadly established electric truck range. For heavy distribution tasks, the manufacturer offers various 6×2 configurations. The variant used by Arla features the largest available battery capacity at 525 kWh and utilises the maximum motor power of 350 kW from DAF’s electric drivetrain. In parallel, Arla is also putting seven additional DAF XD trucks with 6×2 chassis and MX-11 diesel engines into operation. These deliver 330 kW. All vehicles are supplied with a DAF MultiSupport repair and maintenance contract.
For the electric trucks, Arla is also expanding charging infrastructure at its Hobro site, where the company both operates a dairy and stations its vehicles. PACCAR Power Solutions is installing a charging system with a total capacity of 480 kW.
The all-electric fleet will be supplied via six fast-charging points, each with up to 400 kW.
