Replacing the 760i, this new M Performance version of the 7-series will pack around 570 horsepower.
When BMW revealed the latest update to the 7-series, a V-8 model was conspicuously absent from the refreshed lineup. That’s remedied now with the debut of the new 2027 BMW M760 xDrive. It’s a high-performance version of the brand’s flagship sedan that will arrive in the United States in the first half of next year.
Under the hood of the M760 is a twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V-8 with around 570 horsepower. BMW isn’t releasing full specs quite yet, but we also know it will have standard all-wheel drive and upgraded chassis components compared with the inline-six-powered 740.
This V-8 7er replaces the previous 760i, which had a slightly less powerful twin-turbo 4.4-liter V-8 with 536 horses. It didn’t wear M badges, though, so it was less performance-focused. Previously, the only M Performance version of the 7-series was the electric i7 M70, which is no longer part of the i7 lineup for 2027.

BMW says it is refocusing the M Performance portfolio around the V-8 engine for the U.S. market, so we can expect to see more of these derivatives in the future for larger models such as the new X5 SUV.
Despite being raised on a steady diet of base-model Hondas and Toyotas—or perhaps because of it—Joey Capparella cultivated an obsession for the automotive industry throughout his childhood in Nashville, Tennessee.
