Wedges Are Officially Back After Milan and Paris Fashion Week, but Not the Ones You Remember

From minimalist styles to embellished designs, the wedge heel has carved a place for itself in fashion again.

The wedge comeback is officially here, if the luxury brands that presented throughout spring 2027 fashion month have any say.

Paris Fashion Week and Milan Fashion Week both brought about an abundance of wedges, from front row guests to runways to off-runway presentations.

At the Louis Vuitton show in Paris, plenty of guests including Lisa donned the brand’s leather Luna Wedge Pump, which features sleek lines, an elongated toe curved wedge heel and an upper with sleek lines.

Over on the Givenchy runway, a sculptural rounded wedge heel elevated multiple shoe styles, including a zipper-trimmed peep-toe mule, a gold sandal with a large pom-pom embellishment and a strappy sandal with knots and gold orb details.

Paris Texas’ spring 2027 collection, presented in Milan, is betting big on statement wedge styles, including the Wanda encrusted with crystals and the Romy featuring a cork wedge with a galvanized gold finish. Silhouettes ranged from a thong with dramatically tapered straps to a sandal with thin intersecting straps. Colors ranged from neutral beige to bold blue.

In Paris and Milan respectively, Balenciaga and Casadei both presented shorter wedges with a sleek architectural look. Balenciaga took a minimalist route with a black thong sandal, while Casadei’s Blitz Wedge was slightly more complex with a strappy upper.

There were some more experimental wedges at Paris Fashion Week , too. The Rick Owens show included sparkling avant-garde boots with a fierce platform wedge, as well as sandals with concave wedge heels.
