Watches of Switzerland Unveils Expanded Rolex Store in Glasgow

After a yearlong refurbishment, the Rolex boutique on Buchanan Street nearly doubles its size to more than 6,600 square feet across two floors.

LONDON — The U.K.’s leading luxury watch retailer, Watches of Switzerland, reopened its Rolex boutique on Glasgow’s Buchanan Street on Wednesday after a yearlong refurbishment that nearly doubles the store’s size to more than 6,600 square feet across two floors.

First opened in July 2020, the expanded space now carries Rolex’s current collection and features a dedicated Rolex Certified Pre-Owned area and an authorized service center.

Watches of Switzerland said the expansion reflects the group’s confidence in Glasgow and the strength of a partnership with Rolex that dates back to 1919, when the brand was shown at Northern Goldsmiths in Newcastle.

The space redesign draws on Rolex’s visual language while aiming for a warmer, more residential feel, with green marble marking the welcome area, where chandeliers reference the Cyclops lens on Rolex date displays, and a travertine staircase leading to the first-floor pre-owned space, finished with brown marble.

Brian Duffy, chief executive officer of Watches of Switzerland, said the expanded Rolex store in Glasgow is “more than a retail destination.”

“It is a space where lasting relationships can be built, milestones celebrated and clients can immerse themselves in a world that reflects the prestige, craftsmanship and significance of every Rolex timepiece,” he continued.

Duffy said the investment was especially meaningful because he grew up in Glasgow, and find it “a privilege to contribute to Glasgow’s continued growth and vibrancy.”
