Sharland England’s founder Louise Roe and Sister Parish Designs’ Eliza Crater Harris created heirloom-worthy pieces for the upcoming season.
MILAN — The family of late interior design legend Sister Parish continues to expand the family business with fresh collaborations and collections.
On Wednesday, the firm told WWD it has partnered with Sharland England, the English homewares brand founded by Louise Roe. The limited-edition holiday collection, Sharland England x Sister Parish, includes stockings, tablecloths and napkins, all fashioned in Sister Parish’s famous Georgina fabric in lettuce green.
The collaboration came to be when Sister Parish’s great-granddaughter Eliza Crater Harris, creative director of Sister Parish Design, met Roe at The Ticking Tent, an artisanal and antiques market in Bedford, N.Y. Harris was drawn to Sharland England’s romantic aesthetic and its reverence for the past. Coincidentally, both Roe and Crater Harris’ creative paths were inspired by their great-grandmothers.
“Louise’s pieces have such soul. They feel storied, charming and beautifully lived-in — exactly the mix my great-grandmother and Albert Hadley championed. It’s the same spirit we strive for today,” Crater Harris said.
“Marjorie Sharland threw magical parties and entertained with a sense of ease. The table looked elegant, yet somehow informal. Growing up in the English countryside, I was surrounded by antique chintz, rattan, cane and patinated wooden furniture — pieces that made my eyes twinkle, even as a child, as if glamorous stories and scenes from the past simply floated up from them,” Roe reminisced.
Known as the ultimate arbiter of American design and the pioneer of American Country , Sister Parish ushered in a new phase of design with Albert Hadley in 1962.
