Unveiled at Meta Connect, the expanded lineup introduces camera-free Audio glasses and brings AI to the aviator as Meta and EssilorLuxottica push connected eyewear toward greater choice, style and personalization.
“AI glasses need to match people’s individual sense of style while looking and feeling great on every kind of face,” Meta chief executive officer Mark Zuckerberg said Wednesday as the company and EssilorLuxottica unveiled their latest generation of AI eyewear at Meta Connect.
Meta is rapidly broadening its AI eyewear lineup, with more than 100 options planned across Ray-Ban, Oakley and Meta Glasses by the end of the year, spanning different silhouettes, use cases and levels of technology. The expansion reflects a push to make the frames feel more like fashion products, with style and fit at the center of the proposition.
For Ray-Ban and EssilorLuxottica, the next phase is about choice: in frame, fit, function and how much technology a wearer finds useful.
“What we’ve learned is actually very simple: people want great eyewear first,” Matteo Battiston, chief design officer of EssilorLuxottica, told WWD exclusively ahead of Meta Connect.
The companies are significantly expanding the Ray-Ban Meta lineup with Ray-Ban Meta Audio, their first camera-free, audio-only AI glasses, alongside Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 3). The assortment brings the technology to some of Ray-Ban’s most recognizable silhouettes while widening the choice of lenses, prescription options and levels of functionality. In the U.S., Meta Audio starts at $349, while Gen 3 starts at $449.
A new proposition is Meta Audio.
