Martine Rose will return to Balenciaga as creative director on Nov. 16, succeeding Pierpaolo Piccioli. Kering announced her appointment Nov. 6, a day after confirming Piccioli’s departure.
Rose previously worked on Balenciaga’s menswear under former creative director Demna. She founded her namesake label in London in 2007 and will be based in Paris for the new role.
“Her connection to the new generation and her instinctive understanding of culture bring a new dimension to the House,” said Luca de Meo, Kering’s CEO.
Piccioli succeeded Demna in July 2025. His first couture collection for Balenciaga featured a bioengineered silk alternative from AMSilk and neo-gazar, a fabric he had reintroduced in his debut collection.
“Through his vision, [Piccioli] reaffirmed the couture origins of the House, bringing his considered approach to craftsmanship, construction and creativity,” said Gianfranco Gianangeli, Balenciaga’s president and CEO.
PVH Corp., parent of Calvin Klein and Tommy Hilfiger, has appointed Frits Dirk van Paasschen to its board of directors, effective immediately.
Van Paasschen spent more than a decade as CEO of consumer and lifestyle companies, including Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide and Coors Brewing Company. At Nike, he held several leadership positions before becoming general manager for Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
His earlier experience includes a leadership role in Disney’s consumer products division and consulting work for retail and consumer clients at Boston Consulting Group and McKinsey & Company.
