Samsung's One UI 9 is finally rolling out in the US, but only for some Galaxy owners

Samsung is rolling out its One UI 9 update in earnest, if later than expected. The custom take on Android 17 is starting to reach Galaxy S26 devices in the U.S. roughly a week after the launch was supposed to start.

Reddit users are reporting that the American upgrade is so far limited to T-Mobile customers. AT&T and Verizon subscribers still don't see it, nor do people with unlocked models. This gradual rollout isn't surprising as it could help Samsung spot problems before a wider release, but you might have to be patient if you aren't part of that first wave.

The move comes after Galaxy S26 owners in multiple regions said they didn't get One UI 9. Samsung has acknowledged a delay in some cases, but hasn't explained why it had to push the update back.

One UI 9 already ships with the Galaxy Z Fold 8, Z Fold 8 Ultra, and Z Flip 8, as well as the Galaxy S26 FE. More affordable Galaxy A-series phones and the Galaxy Tab line are also expected to receive the new Android version, although Samsung hasn't provided a timeline for those updates.

While One UI 9 isn't a major overhaul, it does provide some useful improvements for Samsung devices that mostly revolve around AI.

On top of Android 17 features like Gemini Intelligence, Now Brief has new AI-generated daily summaries. Interpreter provides quicker, threaded translations. Security Brief alerts you to trouble, while privacy warnings and broadly available scam detection can save you from putting data in the wrong hands.
