One of Michael Jordan’s Famous Championship Air Jordans Is Getting an Unexpected New Upgrade

A Nike SB version of the Air Jordan 12 Retro Low is expected to be released during summer 2027.

Nike SB’s board-ready remixes of the Beaverton, Ore.-based brand’s beloved sneakers continue to expand with the March’s Supreme x Air Max2 CB 94 collaboration and an upcoming SB version of the futuristic Air Foamposite One retro basketball shoe. Now, we’re learning that one of Michael Jordan’s classic models will soon undergo the Nike SB transformation with two pairs slated to arrive next summer.

According to @brandon1an and Sneaker Market Romania, a Nike SB Air Jordan 12 Low SP is in the works for summer 2027. Early information is limited, but it’s expected that the revamped sneaker will be released in two fully tonal colorways including Black/Black and Bright Cactus/Bright Cactus.

In-hand images of the Nike SB Air Jordan 12 Low aren’t yet available, but speculative mock-ups were shared which could offer fans an idea of what to expect from the updated model.

While official specs aren’t yet known, previous Nike SB renditions of classic sneakers, such as 2023’s acclaimed Air Jordan 4 SB, could offer an idea of what can be expected from the upcoming Air Jordan 12. It’s likely that modifications will be made to make the model lighter in weight while also improving durability and bringing the foot closer to the ground for improved board feel.

Other recent Nike SB reworks of classic Swoosh sneakers include the Air Force 1 SB, which has been released in a number of styles since its April debut.
