The actress hit the FX "American Horror Story: 13" celebration in New York City in late September and brought the "new Farrah Fawcett" hairstyle with her.
Jessica Lange proves your hair can have it all — volume, bounce and shine.
The 77-year-old actress attended FX’s “American Horror Story: 13” celebration in New York City in late September, where she honored her much-anticipated return to the cult-favorite series with hair zhuzhed to the max.
Styled by Michael Silva, her silver bob flitted up and around her face, forming little curls at the bottom of each blended layer. Meanwhile, her roots were notably teased at the top, each section effortlessly folding over the back of her head like a waterfall.
Speaking with WWD, Silva said the goal was glamorous hair, not big hair. “[We wanted it to] look effortless and yet polished and appropriate,” he said. “I even thought of the ‘new Farrah [Fawcett].'”
To differentiate Lange’s style from the quintessential bouffant bob and build a supported structure, Silva added volume spray at the roots. “No other products on the hair; you want max lift without weight,” he said.
The shape was achieved using an aluminum base round brush. According to Silva, the aluminum acts like a curling iron, heating the hair as it’s dragged under the blow dryer. But the hot hair won’t hold the shape, so Silva suggests blasting cool air for a few seconds before unrolling the brush and clipping the barrel at the scalp. This, he explained, locks the C-curve.
