Florence Pugh brought the vest trend back in her Patrick McDowell look for Tuesday night’s Jaguar Type 01 launch event at Storied NYC in New York City.
The “East of Eden” star turned to the London-based designer’s fall 2026 ready-to-wear collection for her look — a sleeveless dress with a bodice that harkened back to 2024’s vest obsession. The dress was crafted with contrasting fabrics, pairing a firmer, structured bodice with a plunging neckline and buttons running down the front placket with a softer skirt.
The skirt continued the black palette in a soft, satiny fabric with material draped at the hips for an exaggerated silhouette. A short train trailed behind Pugh.
As for accessories, Pugh continued to spotlight her ongoing relationship with Bulgari, for which she serves as a global brand ambassador and campaign star. The Oscar-nominated “Little Women” actress wore a Serpenti necklace with diamonds and a Serpenti bracelet.
For glam, Pugh turned to hairstylist Hyungsun Ju, who created an elevated messy bun and styled her fringe to frame her face. Alex Babsky provided the actress’ sleek makeup look, including a pop of color with a deep red lip. Rebecca Corbin-Murray styled Pugh for the event.
While Pugh’s dress certainly evoked the “structured tailoring variations with elongated lines” of McDowell’s collection, per Tianwei Zhang’s WWD review, the bodice provided an unexpected callback to the 2024 vest trend.
Stars like Ayo Edebiri, Olivia Culpo and Jessica Alba, among others, added vests to their red carpet wardrobes throughout 2023 and 2024, elevating the bygone Y2K hipster trend with designer touches and oversize proportions.
